3 Nephi 18: 1-14
In these verses Christ institutes the sacrament among the Nephites.
In His church anciently the sacrament was important. In His restored gospel today it is the same.
Why?
'And this shall ye do in remembrance...'
It is so easy to get swept away today with all we have going on. There are distractions everywhere, both important and unimportant.
This is a time to stop... and remember Him.
Certainly I hope to do that more than once a week when I take the sacrament, but this is part of gathering together. It gives us reason, creates an opportunity, just in case we didn't do it on our own. It is a gentle reminder, and can benefit us if we let it.
